It ran roughly east-west across south Bedfordshire for twelve miles, through the parishes of Leighton Buzzard (where it crossed the River Ousel at Yttingaford, or Tiddenfoot, site of a peace treaty between King Edward the Elder (899-924) and the Danes in 906), Billington, Stanbridge, Eggington, Tilsworth, Chalgrave, Houghton Regis, Toddington, Sundon and Luton where it met up with Icknield Way. Some Chaps Cycle Around a Muddy Field And Get Muddy
A Cyclo Cross event took place today on the Kingsland site, in Houghton Regis. Riders traversed a 2.5km course to see how many laps they could do in an hour.
A race official said, "It was a good course. We might want to come back here. "
The event was organised at short notice when another venue had to cancel because of safety concerns. Riders travelled from all over the region, including Northamptonshire and London.
